Viet Nam will be an active non-permanent member of the United Nations (UN) Security Council, said UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean- Pierre Lacroix.

Jean- Pierre Lacroix said that Viet Nam has been actively supporting the UN over the past 42 years, especially in peacekeeping activities.

The body has received strong support and encouragement from Viet Nam in carrying out its activities to maintain peace and security. Viet Nam has actively participated in initiatives related to peacekeeping to enhance the influence of these efforts.

Viet Nam has deployed forces to take part in peacekeeping activities, including in hot spots like South Sudan.

Viet Nam played as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council by making direct contributions to the issuance of decisions and resolutions of the council./.
