VGP – The Ministry of Health confirmed 21 community infection cases of COVID-19 on Thursday noon, raising the national patient tally to 3,679.

The latest cases are residents of Bac Giang (seven), Hung Yen (four), Thai Binh (four), Ha Noi (three), Thua Thien-Hue (one), Ha Nam (one), and Hoa Binh (one).

Viet Nam’s caseload includes 2,234 domestic cases and 1,445 imported cases, according to the ministry.

Among the domestic cases, 664 have been recorded in 26 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide since April 27 when the fourth wave of local transmissions broke out, prompting at least 40 cities and provinces to close schools to prevent COVID-19 transmissions.

The nation is placing more than 77,600 people under medical surveillance or centralized quarantine as they have come in close contact with COVID-19 patients or returned to Viet Nam from abroad.
