Transport sector reviews 2013 performance
VGP - The Ministry of Transportation (MOT) held a conference in Ha Noi on January 9 to review its performance in 2013 and devise a working plan for 2014. It saw the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

In 2013, the MOT improved its legal documents, contributing to enhancing State management in transportation.
Transport fees have been put under control to better serve travelling demands and boost production and trade, helping with curbing inflation and stabilizing the macroeconomy.
Examination over speed, vehicles’ load and observance of transport regulations has been enhanced, thus reducing traffic accidents as well as the casualties (below 10,000).
Stronger resolution has been also made in monitoring, rearranging, improving and restructuring State-owned enterprises, particularly the equitization of many big corporations and ports.
The MOT has set 2014 targets of achieving an average growth of 6% in transported goods volume and 7% of tourists over 2013, fulfilling and disbursing all allocated capital sources and accelerating projects on upgrading National Highway No.1, Ho Chi Minh Highway in the central highlands region and some other key projects.
The sector will tighten the management over project management boards, and design, supervision and consultation work, continue drastic measures to reduce traffic accidents and enhance the management over transport activities and vehicles’ load.
