Traditional ties to be restored and solidified with former Yugoslavia countries

VNGOP – At the invitations of the Foreign Ministries of the Republic of Slovenia, the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Serbia, Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Lê Công Phụng paid a working visit on May 21-25 to these three countries of the former Yugoslavia.

In the working sessions with leaders of the Foreign Ministries, Economy Ministries and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of these countries, the Vietnamese delegation focused on discussing orientations and solutions to resume and strengthen traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, especially in economy and trade.

Deputy Foreign Minister Lê Công Phụng also exchanged his views with leaders of three Foreign Ministries about international and regional issues of common concern as well as their collaboration on international forums.

Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia highly valued significant achievements gained by Vietnam in the cause of renovation, especially in economic development and international integration. These countries pledged to cement ties with Vietnam, support Vietnam to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2008-2009 and recognize Vietnam's market economy.
