Trade surplus reaches US$1.8 bln in 7 months

VGP – Viet Nam enjoyed the trade surplus of US$1.8 billion over the recent seven months of 2019, according to the General Statistics Office.

The total exports and imports in the reviewed period hit US$288.7 billion in seven months, of which the export value made up US$145.13 billion.

The total export and import values in the first seven months of 2019 witness respective increases of 7.5% and 8.3% against the same period last year.

As many as 24 items join the US$1 billion export club, making up 88.1% of the total export value, of which four items report the export value exceeding US$10 billion, accounting for 51.6% of the total export value.

In the reviewed period, exports to the U.S. rocket, up 25.4% against the same period last year. The export values to key markets such as the EU, China, ASEAN and the Republic of Korea see slight increases.

A total number of 28 items participate in US$1 billion import club, making up 85.8%, of which two items announce the import value exceeding US$20 billion, accounting for 34.2%.

China maintains the largest importer of Viet Nam with US$42 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.9%.
