Trade surplus exceeds US$500 million in Q1

VGP – Viet Nam enjoyed a trade surplus of US$536 million in the first quarter of 2019, according to the General Statistics Office.

The State sector reports a trade deficit of US$7.04 billion while the foreign-invested sector announces a trade surplus of US$7.57 billion (including crude oil).

As many as nine items join the US$1 billion export club in the first quarter of 2019, accounting for 70.8% of the total export value.

In the first three months of 2019, US maintains the largest exporter of Viet Nam with US$13 billion, up 26% against the same period last year.

In the first quarter of 2019, as many as 13 items participate in the US$1 billion import club, making up 69.5% of the total import value.

China is the largest importer of Viet Nam with US$15 billion over the first quarter of 2019, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%.
