Trade cooperation promoted between VN and EU

VNGOVNet – On December 6, the PM directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to collaborate with the relevant agencies to speed up negotiations for a new Vietnam-EU partnership agreement.

December 07, 2006 5:00 AM GMT+7

The PM assigned the Ministry of Trade (MoT) to promote commercial ties between Vietnam and EU member countries, trying to increase two-way trade turnover to €15 billion by 2010. The MoT also needs to work to push the EU to recognize Vietnam’s market economy.

The PM also agreed to promote the chief negotiator of human rights talks between Vietnam and the EU to the post of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. The National Committee for International Economic Cooperation will inform the relevant agencies about the outcomes of a meeting to launch the comprehensive Vietnam-EU relationship project held in Hanoi on October 31, 2006.
