According to the information of the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Viet Nam earned US$1.59 billion from exporting tra fish, a year-on-year increase of 22.6%.

The exports of tra fish to the U.S. hit US$65.9 million and US$48 million in August and September, up 256% and 152.5%, respectively.

Tra fish export value is expected to exceed US$2 billion this year.

Earlier, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) under the U.S. Department of Agriculture recently proposed that Viet Nam’s catfish inspection systems are equivalent to those in the U.S.

Accordingly, the FSIS will publish in the Federal Register proposed rules to list Viet Nam, China, and Thailand as three foreigners qualified to ship catfish to the U.S.
