Tourism sector forecasted to boom in 2012

VGP - Tourism sector of Việt Nam is projected to grow at a double-digit rate in the near future, owing to a rise in private sector investment, said MarketsMonitor.com on a new research report, themed “Việt Nam Tourism Industry Forecast to 2012.”

May 26, 2010 10:28 AM GMT+7

The report states that Việt Nam is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Asia-Pacific region and its tourism industry has been growing unprecedentedly over the past few years.

In 2009, despite the global recession, the travel and tourism industry is estimated to have contributed 13.1% of the GDP to the Vietnamese economy.

According to MarketsMonitor.com, the Government’s support via promotional activities conducted all around the world has been the key driving force for this industry’s growth.

The report predicts that with several upcoming events in 2010, there will be an increased demand for rooms in the hospitality industry.

The baseline for the optimistic future outlook projected is that there has been an increase in the number of outbound and domestic tourists.

The report holds that thanks to rapid economic growth, increasing disposable income and large share of young population, the tourism industry in Việt Nam will show positive growth in the coming years./.
