Top legislator receives APPF-26 delegation heads

VGP – NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on Saturday hosted receptions for heads of parliamentary delegations from Cambodia, Mexico, and Chile who are in Viet Nam to attend the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26).

At reception for Vice President of the Cambodian Senate Tep Ngorn, top legislator Ngan congratulated on the great achievements gained by Cambodia in its national construction and development cause.

Ngan asked Cambodia to proactively push for legal status for Cambodian people of Vietnamese origin on the basis of Cambodia’s law and on the spirit of the two countries’ neighboring and friendly relations so that they could make more contributions to the development of Cambodia.

Tep Ngorn expressed his deep gratitude to Viet Nam for having helped Cambodia to escape from the Pol Pot genocide regime and move on with recovery and development.

At reception for President of Mexico Senate Ernesto Cordero, NA Chairwoman Ngan highly valued effective cooperation between the two countries’ legislatures over the past time.

She asked the two sides to foster legislative cooperation through the exchange of delegations and coordination in supervising the implementation of the agreements signed between the two sides.

NA Chairwoman Ngan said Viet Nam expects to further enhance legislative cooperation with Chile on both bilateral and multilateral aspects at reception for President of Chile’s House of Representatives Fidel Espinoza Sandoval.

Sandoval said Chile gives top priority to cooperation with Asian-Pacific countries, including Viet Nam.

Since the Viet Nam-Chile free trade agreement came into effect in 2014, the two-way trade increased to US$1.04 billion in 2016 and US$955 million in the first nine months this year./.
