Top legislator embarks on official visit to Kazakhstan

VGP – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and a high-ranking delegation left Russia to the Republic of Kazakhstan for an official visitfrom October 16-18.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and a

NA Chairwoman Ngan and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation left Saint Peterburg, successfully concluding their participation in the 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU-137).

The visit was made at the invitation of Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Kassym Zhomart Tokayev and Chairman of Lower Chamber of Kazakhstan's Parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin Nurlan Nigmatulin.

At the plenary session of IPU-137, the Vietnamese top legislator delivered a keynote speech on under the theme “Promoting cultural pluralism and peace through inter-faith and inter-ethnic dialogue.”   

Chairwoman Ngan emphasized that tolerance, honest dialogue, mutual respect, confidence, and understanding among nationalities and religions would bring peace and security for the world. 

To promote cultural diversification and peace via religious and national dialogues, the Chairwoman made five suggestions including closer coordination among the IPU and the UN’s mechanisms, international organizations, and parliamentary members to promote initiatives, action of law makers in favor of peace, cooperation, and solidarity among different nationalities, religions, and cultures in every country in the world. 

On the sidelines of the IPU-137, Chairwoman Ngan met with IPU President Saber Chowdhury; Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko; and Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China (NPC) Zhang Ping./.
