Top leader chairs Political Bureau’s meeting, personnel planning approved

VGP – Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau on Friday to discuss and approve personnel planning for the 13th Party Central Committee in 2021-2026 tenure.

At the meeting, the Politburo members discussed Report No. 08-BC/BCD of the Steering Board for the building of the strategic personnel planning for the 2021-2026 tenure.

The Politburo members welcomed the efforts made by the Steering Board in summarizing all comments on the planning by the members of the 12th Party Central Committee at its 9th plenum held in December 2018, in directing competent agencies and its assistance group to verify personal dossiers of the candidates on the basis of strict and serious compliance with current regulations and procedures.

At the proposal of the Steering Committee, the Politburo decided to approve the personnel planning for the next Party Central Committee  in the 2021-2026 tenure.

The Politburo assigned the Steering Committee to notify the approved personnel planning to inferior party committees and organizations.

Meanwhile, the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission was tasked to coordinate with relevant agencies and localities to implement training courses and rotation as a proactive step forward to personnel preparations for the Party congresses at all levels towards the 13th National Party Congress.

Also at the meeting, the Politburo members decided disciplinary measures against Admiral Nguyen Van Hien,  former member of the Party Central Committee, former member of the Central Military Commission, former Deputy Minister of National Defense and former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and former Commander of the Vietnam People’s Navy.

Accordingly, Hien was stripped of the following job titles: Member of the Central Military Commission in 2005-2010 tenure, and member of the Party Committee of the naval force in 2005-2010 tenure (including the titles of vice secretary, member of the standing board and member of the Party Committee). 

The Politburo also asked relevant authorities to decide administrative disciplinary measures against Hien corresponding to those of the Party./.
