Three northeastern provinces look at investment promotion

VNGOP – Three northeastern mountainous provinces of Cao Bằng, Bắc Kạn and Lạng Sơn co-organized a conference on investment promotion on July 9.

July 10, 2007 7:05 AM GMT+7

At the conference, leaders of the three provinces thoroughly introduced advantages and investment projects in their localities. These projects aim to exploit the three provinces' common potentialities, including minerals, hydroelectricity, border economic development, historical and ecotourism. Through the conference, the three provinces expect to attract more large-scale projects to make use of their advantages.

Addressing the conference, Deputy PM Trương Vĩnh Trọng asked the three provinces to exploit their available advantages and the development cooperation project "Two corridor, one economic belt" agreed by Việt Nam and China.

At the conference, Cao Bằng, Bắc Kạn, and Lạng Sơn licensed many investment projects, the most noteworthy is the Vạn Lợi Steel Group's project on steel and lime producing complex with a capacity of 500,000 tons/year. The Group also signed a principle agreement with the Bank of Investment and Development of Việt Nam on credit provision to implement the project in Bắc Kạn.
