Two severe COVID-19 cases in Viet Nam have required ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation).

Among the sickest cases, two have required ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), including one being treated at the Ha Noi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases and one at the Ho Chi Minh City-based Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Nine patients are undergoing invasive mechanical ventilation while the other four are being resorted to non- invasive mechanical ventilation.

As many as 23 cases are using oxygen therapy for treatment.

The Ha Noi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases is the leading COVID-19 treatment facility in Viet Nam. At present more than 330 out of the current active cases are being treated there.

As of 6.00 pm of May 14, Viet Nam documented 3,816 COVID-19 cases, including 2,357 domestically-transmitted infections and 1,459 imported cases so far.

Since the first positive case was detected on January 23, 2020, Viet Nam has experienced four waves of local transmissions, with the latest breaking out on April 27, 2021.
