The 1000th anniversary of Thăng Long-Hà Nội: Good chance for Asian cities to promote tourism
VGP – The Hà Nội People’s Committee hosted the 7th conference of the Council for Promotion of Tourism in Asia (CPTA) on October 5-10. The event attracted the attendance of representatives from eight member-cities, Hà Nội, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Tokyo, New Delhi, Jakarta and Seoul.

The annual CPTA meeting is one of activities conducted by the Asian Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC21).
The CPTA official session on October 07 approved the joint declaration with radical measures to promote the member-cities’ tourism system and carry out some joint projects.
Especially, the host presented its plan to promote tourism on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of Thăng Long-Hà Nội, an event under the CPTA members’ campaign “Welcome to Asia”. Representatives of Jakarta, Tokyo, Taipei and Kuala Lumpur asserted that the great celebration of Thăng Long-Hà Nội is a good chance for eight CPTA member-cities to highlight their images and enhance their cooperation in tourism. So that the CPTA’s secretariat recommended all members should take part in the event in different ways, such as opening tourist information stations to introduce the great anniversary and Hà Nội, offering discount air itineraries to tourists during the celebration, and so on.
With a view to sharing information and supporting each other in tourist promotion, Hà Nội’s tourism sector proposed the establishment of an Association of Tourism Enterprises, under the CPTA, to help the eight cities to attract more international tourists and boost their tourist activities
