Textile sector heads to gain US$31.3 billion from exporting

VGP – The Government and the PM will continue assisting businesses to expand market and facilitate production and manufacturing, said Governor, Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung on June 20 at a meeting with the Viet Nam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS).

Mr. Dung hailed that the VITAS has fulfilled 23 tasks assigned by the Government and the PM.

Garment is a crucial sector, contributing to 16% of the nation’s total export turnover and 10% of the industrial production value, creating 2.5 million jobs, said the Governor.

The sector aims to earn US$31.3 billion from exporting in 2017, up 10.9%. The association expects to gain VND45,500 billion this year and US$2.78 billion from exporting, up 10.7% and 11.4%, respectively.

The VITAS has accelerated the rate of progress of 41 projects with a total registered capital of VND5,500 billion.

President of the Board Management of the VITAS Tran Quang Nghi committed to achieving the export value of US$3 billion this year, up 20.4% against in 2016.

Mr. Dung affirmed that after the PM’s official visits to the U.S. and Japan, the PM will continue his official visits to Germany and the Netherlands to expand markets for businesses.
