Việt Nam now produces the 5th largest tea output in the world

Việt Nam now ranks the 5th among tea producers and exporters in the world.

About 6 million Vietnamese people are living in tea growing areas and having income from cultivating, processing and trading tea.

Made-in-Việt Nam tea has appeared in 110 countries and territories. Especially, the “CheViet” trademark has been registered and protected in 73 foreign markets.

Despite the rising input costs and the global economic recession in the last four months of 2008, Việt Nam’s tea export volume hit 104,000 tons, earning US$ 147 million, up 12.4% compared to 2007.

This year, VTA has adopted a strategy for the development of tea industry. Accordingly, it will modernize processing industry and improve tea productivity, quality and value.

In addition, the Association will promote human resource training and the application of technological advances in production to meet domestic and foreign demands.
