T-V-H cable line recovered ahead of schedule

VNGOP – The International marine optical cable line T-V-H was fully recovered by late June to its status quo before the breakdown due to illegal exploitation.

Illegally-cut telecommunication cables seized

According to the Việt Nam Post and Telecommunication Group (VNPT), it is estimated to take three months and several millions of US dollars to recover T-V-H. However, actually, VNPT and its partners managed to use spare cables and equipment as the replacements. This helped to save a lot of time of buying new cables or waiting for cables and equipment from producers. So, less than one month (from June 08 to 29, 2007), the repair and recovery work was completed.

To ensure the safety for T-V-H line in particular and other marine communication cables in general, relevant ministries, sectors, local authorities and people in coastal provinces should proactively engage in fighting against illegal exploitation.
