Supervision mechanism in realizing SDGs needed

VGP – The National Assembly needs to launch a supervision mechanism for the effective realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through integrating the SDGs into the supervision of socio-economic development goals.

A conference on the National Assembly (NA) and the SDGs, which was jointly organized by the Vietnamese National Assembly, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the UN Development Program, wrapped up in the central city of Da Nang on December 18. 

In her concluding remarks, NA Standing Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong said presentations, opinions and discussions at the two-day event had shared new knowledge, latest information and useful suggestions on issues related to the implementation of SDGs in Viet Nam.

She asserted that parliament members play crucial roles in launching the SDG and supposed that SDGs related to poverty reduction, gender equality, climate change adaption and environmental protection are suitable with the nation’s development goals. 

The NA Vice Chairwoman reiterated Viet Nam’s political resolve in carrying out the SDGs and leaving no one behind.
