Successful hosting of DPRK-USA Summit elevates Viet Nam’s position: PM
VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has affirmed that the successful organization of the second summit between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States has brought a new position to Viet Nam and elevated the country to new heights.

The Government leader made the remark at a meeting held in Ha Noi on March 13 to review the preparations for the DPRK-USA Summit and the welcome of DPRK Chairman Kim Jong Un to pay an official friendly visit to Viet Nam and US President Donald Trump to visit the country.
Both the DPRK and US leaders expressed their gratitude and impression at Viet Nam’s preparatory work, PM Phuc said, hailing this as a strong message about Viet Nam’s rising and willingness to further promote its constructive role and active contributions to the common affairs of the region and the work.
The success of the aforementioned events is a good warm-up for Viet Nam to take over ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020 and seeking to become a nonpermanent member of the UN Security Council for 2020-2021, creating a favorable environment for the acceleration of bilateral activities with the US in the future as well as paving the way for the enhancement of ties with the DPRK at an appropriate time, he stated.

The PM asked all levels and sectors to preserve a peaceful environment and take advantage of such opportunities to boost socio-economic development, especially in attracting investment and developing tourism in the time ahead.
At the meeting, Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh said that the organization of the DPRK-USA Summit witnessed many unprecedented efforts, notably the extremely close and smooth coordination between ministries, sectors, agencies and localities.
It was the proactivity and drastic actions that contributed to the success of Viet Nam’s organizational work for the abovementioned events, he affirmed.
