Subordinate levels urged to continue doubling efforts to contain COVID-19

VGP - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam stressed the need to continue doubling efforts in contain the COVID-19 outbreaks in order to ensure a safe Lunar New Year holiday even in the pandemic-stricken areas.

Speaking at the meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, Dam praised great efforts by frontliners, especially  health workers, military and public security forces, and residents in the affected areas.

Thanks to their efforts, the COVID-19 cluster in Quang Ninh Province’s Van Don airport has been contained while the cluster in Hai Duong’s Chi Linh city has been controlled well, according to the Deputy PM.

He also said Ha Noi authorities have ran more than 17,000 tests on those who had travel records to Chi Linh city.

The third wave of COVID-19 community transmission broke out in Hai Duong and Quang Ninh and spread to other eight localities.

At the meeting, representatives of Hai Duong Provincial People’s Committee reported that that the locality has zone off and closely controlled the outbreak. 

The province has recorded 235 COVID-19 community infection cases over the past eight days. The number of positive cases tends to decrease from 72 for the first day (January 28) to 11 on February 2. 

The province has built the third field hospital to prepare for the worst scenario when the pandemic would spread widely. 

Leaders Quang Ninh said that the province has tracked 74,000 people having contact with COVID-19 patients, detecting 42 ones carrying the coronavirus. 

Meanwhile, Ha Noi has confirmed 21 COVID-19 community infections. 

All karaoke venues, bars, discotheques, Internet and online game stores in the capital city were ordered to close to prevent spread of the virus./.
