Steering Committee on forest sustainable development program founded
VGP – The PM has decided to establish a State Steering Committee on Forest Sustainable Development Target Program in the 2016-2020 period.
Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung was appointed as the Head of the newly-founded committee.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong was named as Vice Head of the committee. The body also comprises 18 other members from some ministries and Central agencies.
The new committee is in charge of supporting the PM to research and direct cooperation among ministries, agencies, and localities to implement Decision 886/QD-TTg, dated June 16, 2017 on the Program for Sustainable Forestry Development for 2016-2020 and Decision 419/QD-TTg, dated April 5, 2017 approving the national program on reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through the mitigation of deforestation and forest degradation; conservation and enhancement of forest carbon stocks and sustainable management of forest resources through 2030./.
