November 15, 2018 3:14 PM GMT+7

The new law will come into force since July 1, 2020.

Before passing the whole draft law, the National Assembly conducted a separate vote for Article 7 and Article 9.

Article 7 dealing with the scope of state secrets regulates that information of state secrets must be important information which has yet publicized. If exposed, the information would damage national benefits. Up to 439 deputies (90.52%) approved of the Article. Only four deputies (0.82%) disagreed with the Article.

Regarding Article 9 on the List of state secrets, 442 deputies (91.13%) voted in favor.

Head of the NA's National Defense and Security Committee Vo Trong Vien presented a report on reception and explanation of the NA’s deputies on the draft law.

According to Mr. Viet, in practice, it is necessary to define information publication in different periods of time in which information must be kept secret in the period of building in favor of national interests.

The PM is in charge of issuing a specific portfolio of state secrets./.
