State President welcomes World Vision Int’l leader

VGP – State President Tran Dai Quang in Ha Noi on September 28 hosted a reception for the President of the World Vision International (WVI) Kevin Jenkins.

The State President congratulated Jenkins on receiving the Friendship Order – the highest decoration of the Vietnamese State in honour of foreign individuals and organisations which foster friendship between Viet Nam and countries worldwide. Among over 500 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in VietNam, WVI is one of the first ones operating in the country.

Mr. Quang praised WVI for introducing sustainable and comprehensive approaches to poverty reductionin Viet Nam.

In addition, President Quang suggested WVI to continue helping Viet Nam alleviate difficulties in rural development, health care and education infrastructure for residents living in remote and mountainous areas, and disaster mitigation.

In turn, the WVI President the Vietnamese leader that his organisation targets supporting the poor and the most vulnerable around the globe and  pledgesto continue its contributions to poverty reduction, sustainable development, and climate change mitigation in Viet Nam.
