The Head of State praised the outcomes of the second meeting of the Viet Nam-Sudan Joint Committee in Ha Noi last October, suggesting Sudan coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to accelerate the implementation of agreements reached at the meeting.

According to the host leader, Viet Nam and Sudan have abundant potential to cement and deepen the cooperative ties especially in such areas as trade, investment, agriculture, aquaculture, petroleum, and telecom. The recent loosened embargos are expected to offer good opportunities for the two countries to spur bilateral ties.

Relevant Vietnamese ministries and agencies will create optimal conditions for Sudanese trade offices in Viet Nam to operate, thus elevating the bilateral friendship and cooperation to a new height, the host leader said.

State President Quang asked the ambassador to continue introducing Viet Nam’s investment and business opportunities to Sudanese firms, stressing that Vietnam wants to welcome more Sudanese enterprises in the time ahead.

The President took this occasion to thank Sudan for its support for Viet Nam’s membership at the UN Human Rights Council (2014-2016 term) and the UN Economic and Social Council (2016-2018 term). He called on Sudan to continue backing Viet Nam’s campaign to run for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council (2020-2021 tenure)  as well as its candidate for the post of the UNESCO Director General (2017-2021 tenure).

For his part, Ambassador Sayed Altayed Ahmed said Viet Nam and Sudan should fully tap their potential and advantages to foster bilateral cooperation in economy, trade and investment in order to make it on par with their fine political ties, hence benefiting the people of both countries.

The diplomat said Sudan has seven trade offices in Ho Chi Minh City to support operations of Sudanese enterprises in Viet Nam and connect the two countries’ businesses.

Sudan hopes to welcome more Vietnamese investors to the country, he said, adding that Sudan is willing to act as a gateway for Vietnamese goods to penetrate the African market./.
