President Tran Dai Quang receives outgoing South African Ambassador to Viet Nam Kgomotso Ruth Magau, Ha Noi, December 7, 2017

At the reception, Kgomotso Ruth Magau, noted with satisfaction the two countries’ sound relations during her past tenure and stated that her nation should avail itself of opportunities to cooperate with Viet Nam at international forums, and at bilateral level via their party, government, and parliamentary agencies.

She said South Africa is making every effort to push up economics and trade with Viet Nam.

In turn, Mr. Quang said the Vietnamese Government has always regarded the ties with South Africa as a priority in its foreign diplomacy while paying attention to increasing cooperation with it.

He expressed his delight at growing bilateral relations, with  regular exchanges of high-ranking delegations and annual trade exceeding US$1 billion, hoping that comprehensive collaboration across trade, mining, education, tourism, natural resources, and environment will be further stepped up.

Regarding the 25th anniversary of bilateral relations next year, Quang said he expects that both nations will launch a string of pragmatic activities to elevate relationship to new heights.

The President used the occasion to invite his South African counterpart to visit Viet Nam in the future.
