At the meeting, the Vietnamese leader hailed the two nations’ Ministries of Public Security for maintaining high-level security cooperation conferences and meetings, conferences and personnel training.

The two sides’ public security forces should improve their coordination in implementing policies of the two Parties and States in safeguarding national security and social order and safety in each country, he suggested.

They consented to join hands in dealing with arising problems related to security and order of each country, especially those in free migration and undocumented marriage along shared border, as well as drug trafficking across the border.

The State President asked the two forces to enhance coordination in personnel training, technology, anti-terrorism and cyber crimes, while supporting each other at regional and international forums on criminal prevention and control, especially fighting hi-tech, environmental crimes and other non-traditional crimes.

For his part, Mr. Kongthong Phongvichit affirmed that Laos’ Public Security Ministry treasures the assistance of Viet Nam’s Public Security Ministry, especially support in material and technical equipment.

He also pledged to strengthen ties with the Vietnamese side, thus contributing to preserving the Laos-Viet Nam special relations.
