The same day, State President Truong Tan Sang met with Jeffrey Immelt, Chairman and CEO of the US industrial giant General Electric (GE) in Ha Noi.

The President lauded GE’s business expansion, particularly in health, wind energy, construction and aviation, in Vietnamese localities, saying the conglomerate is becoming a long-term partner for Vietnam’s sustainable development.

Talking about the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and other agreements that Viet Nam takes part in, he said Vietnam is actively working for its adaptation and hopes to receive support from development partners.

Mr. Immelt, who is also head of the US President’s Council on Job and Competitiveness, said his firm intends to reach VietNam’s remote areas while attempting to increase the rate of locally made materials in the country through high-quality manpower training.
