Mr. Quang welcomed the working visit of the Malaysian Minister and the outcomes of the Viet Nam-Malaysia roundtable talks with the participation of over 100 Vietnamese and Malaysian businesses.

Viet Nam, said the host leader, attaches importance to fostering the relations with the regional country, especially in economy, trade and investment.

According to the Head of State, Malaysia ranked second among ASEAN member countries investing in Viet Nam with US$ 12 billion mostly in oil and gas, real estate, trade and service.

The two-way trade turnover fetched US$ 8 billion in 2015. Last August, Malaysia’s CIMB bank was licensed to establish a branch in  Viet Nam.

Mr. Quang suggested the two sides early resume the Viet Nam-Malaysia Joint Committee; outline a plan to implement the Viet Nam-Malaysia Action Plan in 2017-2019; and strive for US$ 15 billion trade volume by 2020.

The leader expressed his hope for Malaysia’s support for Viet Nam’s successful hosting of APEC 2017 and the two countries’ increased consultation and backing at multilateral forums and regional and global cooperative mechanisms.

In return, Minister Mustapa Mohamed stated that Malaysia wants to develop cooperation with Vietnam to the next level, especially trade, and expects to draw more Vietnamese investors and businesses.

The guest leader stressed that Malaysia highly values Viet Nam’s role and position in regional and global cooperative mechanisms and wants to work together with Viet Nam in ASEAN and other forums.

Malaysia will back Viet Nam’s organization of the APEC Year 2017, he noted./.
