State President busy on sidelines of Belt and Road Summit

VGP – State President Tran Dai Quang had bilateral meetings with Lao Party General Secretary and President Bounnhang Vorachith, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko, Chilean President Michelle Bachelet.

At meeting with Lao Party chief Bounnhang Vorachith, State President Quang affirmed that Viet Nam will closely work with Laos to organize activities to mark the Viet Nam-Laos Friendship Year in 2017.

He suggested both sides should beef up effective implementation of the agreements reached at the two politburos’ annual meeting in January 2017 as well as the outcomes of the 39th meeting of the two countries’ Intergovernmental Committee for bilateral cooperation in February this year.

State President Quang also expects both countries to continue strengthening close coordination mutual support at ASEAN-led and international forums while enhancing ASEAN solidarity in strategic issues in the region.

During meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, State President Quang reiterated that Viet Nam attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia.

The two leaders expressed their wish to sustain the pace of bilateral cooperation, especially in trade, economy, energy, and national defense domains.

Both sides agreed on active implementation of the free trade agreement signed between Viet Nam and the Eurasia Economic Union.

State President Quang took the occasion to invite President Putin to pay an official visit to Viet Nam and attend the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang this November.

Russian President Putin affirmed that his country also attaches great importance to the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Viet Nam and is ready to work with Viet Nam to ensure the success of the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.

Meeting with Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko, State President Quang suggested the two countries coordinate in launching practical cooperative activities on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties this year, thus contributing to enhancement of political trust and expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

President Aleksander Lukashenko affirmed Belarus attaches great importance to the traditional friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam.

State President Quang asked Viet Nam and Chile to create favorable conditions for their businesses to access their markets and establish partnerships at meeting with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet.

President Michelle Bachelet affirmed that Chile is ready to foster cooperation with Viet Nam and support the Southeast Asian country to successfully host the APEC Year 2017.

The same day, State President Quang also met with Italian PM Paolo Gentiloni, Argentinian President Mauricio Macr​i, and Myanmar State Counselor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi./.
