Speaking at the meeting, the State President expressed thanks to Japan’s effective and practical assistance to Viet Nam over the recent years, especially in fields of infrastructure development, high-quality human resource development, enhancement of national competitiveness and poverty reduction, highlighting Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) for Viet Nam of more than US$30 billion.

Japan is also Viet Nam’s top investor with the total registered capital of more than US$50 billion in 3,700 projects, he stressed, referring to the two-way trade value of US$33 billion in 2017 and nearly 800,000 Japanese visitors to Viet Nam every year.

He affirmed that the meeting creates an opportunity for the two nations’ business communities to review cooperative and investment outcomes as well as share visions, prospects and development opportunities in the new period, contributing to deepening the Extensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia in the upcoming time.

The Japanese business community, including large-scale corporations not only play as the leading role in investment and cooperation but also promote the two nations’ cooperative relationship more effectively, he asserted.

He called on the Japanese investors to pour more investment in Viet Nam in such sectors as manufacturing industry, service, infrastructure, finance, banking, start-up and join as strategic partners in equitizing the State-owned enterprises.

Viet Nam’s consistent policy is to attach importance to the cooperative relationship with Japan based on sharing benefits on politics, strategic economy and trusted friendship over the recent 45 years, stated Mr. Quang, adding that Viet Nam regards Japanese business community and businessmen as a top strategic partner in the process of restructuring the economy, renovation, creation and improvement of growth quality and national competitiveness.

State President Quang, Japan's State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yoji Muto and Chair of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Hiroyuki Ishige witnessed the granting of investment certificates and the memorandum of understanding on cooperative projects between the two nations’ businesses and localities.

The Vietnamese leader and delegates also witnessed the launching ceremony of Ha Noi-Osaka direct air route which will be launched by Vietjet Air since November 8, 2018.

The event, jointly organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment and the JETRO, attracted the participation of more than 600 businesses from the two sides’ businesses.
