The Bill, which has 11 chapters with 62 articles,
covers compulsory standards and conditions of food safety, solutions to control
food safety, inspection and investigation to prevent food safety infringements,
obligations of the relevant State bodies, and other related issues.
Acknowledging the importance of food safety, members
of the NASC also voiced their concerns over the unclear responsibilities of the
Ministries of Health, Trade and Industry, Agriculture and Rural Development for
the issue.
The fate of genetically modified food is also mentioned
in the Bill, according to NA Vice Chairman Nguyễn Đức Kiên, recommending that
NA should consult experience of other countries to perfect the Bill.
