The event was held by the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Quang Binh provincial People’s Committee on the occasion of the 106th anniversary of the late General's birth day (August 25, 1911- August 25, 2017).

Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan stressed that the stamps present a multidimensional and meaningful message on the life of late General Vo Nguyen Giap and the honorable history of Vietnamese people.

The issuance of the stamps is meant to commemorate and honor the great contributions of the General, contributing to educating patriotism and understanding of Vietnamese history, especially among the youth.

The stamps will be in use from August 25, 2017 to June 30, 2019.

At the ceremony, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed and appended issuance cover for the special stamps./.
