Spring Newspaper Festival opens in HN
VGP – The mature developments of the national press have showcased the increasing democracy in Việt Nam, stressed Mr. Nguyễn Phú Trọng, Chairman of the National Assembly at the opening ceremony of the Spring Newspaper Festival 2010 on February 4 in the capital city of Hà Nội.

The Festival will last on February 4-7 on the threshold of the Lunar New Year.
Addressing the event, the NA Chairman lauded the festival of cultural significance during which journalists and press agencies can meet and share opinions with each other as well as with their audiences for better performance.

Appreciating the Vietnamese press for its important part in the national revolution and its huge contributions to the causes of national salvation and renovation, Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng highlighted that the maturity of the sector vividly reflects the increasing democraticy in Việt Nam where diversified information is broadcasted through various channels.
The NA Chairman also visited the VGP’s show-case and lauded the Government’s communications agency for its efforts to timely and accurately disseminate the Party and State’s policies, creating the social consensus and aggregate strength for Việt Nam to secure rapid and sustainable development.

In the afternoon, Mr. Trương Tấn Sang, Politburo member and standing member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) made a visit to the Festival, where he reconfirmed the Party and State’s interest in the development of the revolutionary press.
On the sidelines of the festival, there are some seminars on relations between the public and the press.
