Southeast Asia biggest dam inaugurated
VGP - The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Thừa Thiên Huế People’s Committee yesterday jointly made a debut of the Thảo Long Dam in the lower section of the Hương (Perfume) River to prevent salt water.

Groudbroken in August 2001, with the total investment of around US $10 million, the ever biggest project of its kind in Southeast Asia is comprised of an anti-salt culvert system, a 600-m bridge, approach roads and ship dock.
Not only preventing salt water and keeping fresh water in the delta of the Hương River, the project also serves as a component in the transport system in the central coastal area.
It will facilitate the sustainable development of different regions, meet urgent demands for transport, socio-economic growth, prevention of natural disasters and rescue work.
