Singapore lifts border restrictions on Vietnamese visitors

VGP – The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore has announced that visitors from Viet Nam and Australia can now apply for Air Travel Pass (ATP) for entry into Singapore.

October 01, 2020 4:30 PM GMT+7

Accordingly, from 1 October 2020, Vietnamese who are short-term visitors may apply for an ATP for entry into Singapore on or after 8 October 2020.

The single-entry ATP must be applied between seven and thirty calendar days prior to their intended date of entry into Singapore.

Visitors must comply with the conditions of the ATP, and the prevailing immigration requirements of the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for their entry and stay in Singapore.

When the Air Travel Pass application is approved, an approval letter will be sent to the applicant via email.

As of 6:05 am on October 1, Viet Nam confirmed 1,095 COVID-19 patients, including 1,010 recoveries and 35 fatalities.

Particularly, Viet Nam has gone 28 days without a community infection case of COVID-19.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has been brought under control, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh had approved the Ministry of Transport’s proposal on resuming international commercial flights to four destinations, including Japan's Tokyo, from September 15 and two others from September 22.

Other destinations are Guangzhou (China), Taiwan (China), Seoul (the Republic of Korea), Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Vientiane (Laos).

Days after the resumption of international commercial flights, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc tasked the Ministry of Transport to continue proposing to increase frequency of international commercial flights to bring back foreign experts, investors and Vietnamese.

The proposal must be reported to Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, who is Head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, for consideration and decision.

The Government chief asked for measures to quickly clear passengers at airports in order to prevent transmission of COVID-19 while relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Public Security, to further simplify entry procedures for foreign experts and investors.

The entry procedures must be specific and clear, emphasized PM Phuc, adding that the Ministry of Health must issue concrete instructions for COVID-19 testing and quarantine.

He also demanded regular inspection and supervision of centralized quarantine facilities and designated quarantine accommodations.

Phuc ordered strict border control to prevent and strictly punish illegal entrants and those who bring foreigners in to Viet Nam illegally./.
