Seminar helps enhance VN-China mutual trust
VGP – Under the theme “Boosting mutual trust in the Việt Nam-China relations: From the angle of border localities,” a seminar hosted by the Diplomatic Academy of Việt Nam on Monday opens a forum for discussions on trust-building measures between the two countries.

The event drew the participation of over 100 Vietnamese and Chinese delegates from different research institutes, ministries, localities, and the army.
The participants agreed that the bilateral relations between Việt Nam and China have been flourishing in all fields. Especially, China is Việt Nam’s biggest trade partner and the two-way trade turnover between the two sides reached US $21 billion in 2008.
On multinational, sub-regional and trans-regional forums for cooperation, the two countries have always behaved in a responsible manner for the sake of their respective people, regional and international peace, stability, prosperity and mutual understanding.
The signings of some agreements relating to the Tonkin Gulf and the completion of land border demarcation and landmark planting are of historic significance in the bilateral ties.
Hence, according to the attendants, the comprehensive fine relations have laid a solid foundation for the two sides to solve the remaining issues and bring the bilateral ties to a new height. In addition, both scientific and practical approaches are necessary to properly deal with those issues.
Practices have shown that “trust building” is a condition as well as principle for taking action in international relations as it helps governments, ministries, agencies and localities of the two sides directly discuss and early figure out solutions to the unsolved issues.
The participants were unanimous in looking at these issues and discussing solutions in a constructive and responsible spirit and in the interests of the two countries./.
