At the workshop

The event was held by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

At the workshop, domestic and international experts shared their experience in preventing and fighting against child violence and abuse, contributing to the development of mechanisms to enhance coordination among agencies at all levels.

The work of child protection in Viet Nam has faced numerous difficulties and challenges in recent years. Notably, many laws and policies related to children and fighting against child abuse are still in the process of reviewing, researching and completion.

The experts proposed breakthrough measures to overcome difficulties and challenges in the prevention and control of child violence and abuse.

They said that child violence and abuse is a global problem that is tending to increase in today’s life.

An estimated 150 million girls and 73 million boys are victims of sexual abuse and violence annually, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
