PM Phuc expressed the honor of Viet Nam to host the 39th ASEANAPOL.

He went on to say that over the past years, the world and region witnessed fast development and peace, cooperation, and development remained the major trend. However, ethnic and religious conflicts, territorial disputes, civil wars, and terrorism became serious. Global non-traditional security issues, cross-border, drug , high-tech and cyber crime, and trafficking in persons were on the rise.

The Vietnamese Party, State and Government pay attention to expanding cooperation with international friends in diverse areas, he said.

According to the PM, ASEANAPOL has been playing an active role in international cooperation in fighting trans-national crimes and maintaining peace in the region over the past nearly four decades.

He asked ASEANAPOL member countries to enhance their joint work on investigating and uncovering trans-national crime cases, share professional expertise with a high sense of responsibility and mutual trust for the sake of a united and prosperous bloc.

The leader expected that ASEANAPOL 39 would figure out feasible solutions to improve the efficiency of cooperation among ASEAN police in the near future.

As Viet Nam was elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020 – 2021 tenure, and the country will be ASEAN Chair in 2020, the Vietnamese Government encourages the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and public security force in particular to boost cooperation with police of foreign countries, especially with those from ASEAN, dialogue partners and international legal enforcement agencies concerned in the fight against trans-national crimes.

The Vietnamese Government and public security force would spare no effort to ensure the best business environment, contributing to security, progress and prosperity in the region and the world, he said.

In reply, General Muhammad Tito Karnavian, Chief of the Indonesian National Police expressed his impression of Viet Nam’s development. Viet Nam has developed extremely quickly over the past time. Her GDP growth rate was the highest one among ASEAN member states.

The guest leader also praised the sound directions of the government and progress in maintaining security and social safety and order.

He was convinced that via the ASEANAPOL mechanism, regional security cooperation will be consolidated./.
