Earlier, a tropical low pressure system strengthened into tropical storm Talas on Saturday.

On Monday, Talas reached the waters of Nam Dinh to Ha Tinh while maintaining its wind speed. It subsequently made landfall in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh, then weakening to a tropical depression.

The northern and central regions are expected to experience heavy rains from July 16-18. Ha Noi, which doesn't lie on the storm's path, will also suffer from heavy rains with high risk of flooding.

The General Director of the Northern Power Corporation, Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN NPC) ordered suspension of unnecessary meetings to respond to the storm. Meanwhile, airlines also rescheduled flight plans to ensure safety.

The first tropical storm of 2017 formed on June 11 in the East Sea, the Vietnamese reference for the South China Sea, and made landfall in China./.
