The decision was contained in a document signed by Deputy Minister Nguyen Huu Do.

Earlier, 981,773 12th graders across the country sit for tests in the first phase on July 7 and 8.

Over 26,000 candidates residing in 42 provinces and cities who have not taken tests in the first phase will take part in the second phase scheduled next month.

These candidates are COVID-19 patients, the primary and secondary contacts and those who sequestered residential areas.

As scheduled, on August 5, they will be present at their exam venues, and they will be introduced to exam rules/regulations and instructions. The candidates will sit for Literature and Mathematics on August 6 and natural sciences or social sciences, and foreign language tests on August 7.

Tests used for the second phase of the exam will be completely similar to those in the first phase, and feature all included content the test takers studied at school.

The tests will be developed on the same matrix and from the same question bank as the first phase so the tests’ difficulty levels are the same to ensure quality among all candidates regardless of whether they attend the first or second phase.

The 2021 exams are essentially the same as last year. Specifically, in order to achieve graduation, high school students must take four exams, including three independent ones, featuring Mathematics, Literature and Foreign Languages, and a custom test in natural science or social science chosen by the candidates.

For continuing education candidates, they will take three exams, including two independent tests of Math and Literature and a custom test in natural science or social science. They can also register to take a foreign language test to use the results for university and college entrance admission./.
