Second VEF to open this month in Hà Nội

VGP - The 2nd Việt Nam Economic Forum (VEF) will be held in Hà Nội on September 19 with the participation with Việt Nam's high-ranking leaders, international policy-makers, directors of regional financial corporations and 600 guests from different countries.

September 04, 2008 3:25 PM GMT+7

Under the theme "Maintaining growth pace", the VEF aims at figuring out solutions for Việt Nam to overcome economic adversities caused by international financial crisis and maintain its long-term and sustainable development goals.

The event also will focus on discussing the Government's key tasks in the time to come like curtailing inflation, maintaining economic growth and ensuring social security, said Mr. Trần Mai Hưởng, Deputy General Director of Việt Nam News Agency and Chairman of the Organizing Board,  in a press briefing held on September 4.

The VEF, as a part of the National Goals Program on foreign investment promotion, is expected to help disseminate Việt Nam's policies and laws as well as create a chance for international experts to share ideas of Việt Nam's economic challenges.

At the upcoming forum, Minister of Finance Vũ Văn Ninh will publicize the latest strategies to recover and stabilize Việt Nam’s financial market in order to further upgrade Việt Nam's economy.

Other two topics will also be put on the table include capital construction and skillful labor force training for long-term economic development. Deputy PM Nguyễn Thiện Nhân will attend this discussion.

Participants to the VEF may have a chance to visit some industrial parks and export processing zones in Hải Dương on September 20.
