On the sidelines of the workshop, the Young Leaders Program will also be organized for the first time with an aim to build up a network of young researchers who study the East Sea and discuss new initiatives on cooperation for peace and development in the waters..

Speaking at the workshop, President of the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam Dang Dinh Quy said although major storms are absent in the East Sea this year, undercurrents are still fierce, threatening the safety of one of the world’s most important shipping lines as well as the lives of millions of fishermen and stability, security and development of the whole region.

The East Sea is dealing with continuous complications, which likely make it a new hot spot.
