The Deputy PM made that statement on December 21 while receiving outgoing General Director of Samsung Viet Nam Shim Won Hwan and Mr. Shim’s successor Choi Joo Ho.

Hue expressed his thanks to the contributions of Samsung and Mr. Shim Wonhwan to Viet Nam’s socio-economic development, extending congratulations to newly-appointed General Director of Samsung Viet Nam Choi Joo Ho.

Regarding Viet Nam’s socio-economic development in 2018, hue said the country fulfilled all socio-economic targets for the whole year with the GDP growth of 6.9-7% and trade volume of US$ 480 billion, up 13% from the previous year.

After 30 years of attracting foreign direct investment, Viet Nam is moving to prioritize projects with a high connectivity capacity that can support Vietnamese firms to join the global value chain, he said.

The Vietnamese Government will soon issue a policy to promote the growth of its value chain, determined to reinforce the macro-economic foundations for the growth of local businesses, Hue added.

For his part, Shim said that Samsung Viet Nam’s export value is expected to increase by 12% to over US$ 60 billion this year.

Samsung Viet Nam is aware of the importance of assisting technology training and improving capacity for Vietnamese firms, making contributions to the sustainable development of the nation’s industry, Shim said.

Samsung has maintained the long-term investment strategy in Viet Nam, he affirmed, adding that during the Samsung Vice President’s visit to Viet Nam in October, he conveyed the message that Samsung will consider Viet Nam as the global largest production site./.
