Russian President pays official visit to Vietnam

VNGOVNet – At the invitation of President Nguyễn Minh Triết, on November 20, Russian President V. Putin started his official visit to Vietnam after attending the 14th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

After a solemn reception at the Presidential Palace, President Nguyễn Minh Triết had talks with President V. Putin. The two sides briefed each other of the situations in each country and expressed their satisfaction about good developments in the traditional friendship and multi-sided cooperation between the two countries over the past time.

The two Presidents discussed measures to further improve the efficiency of economic and trade cooperation, seek new forms of cooperation in the traditional and potential fields, including oil and gas, energy, engineering, metallurgy, transport, science and technique, culture and education.

After the talks, the two leaders signed “Common Declaration on Further Cooperation in the Fields of Geological Survey and Oil Exploitation” and witnessed the signing ceremony of various cooperation agreements between Vietnamese and Russian companies in the fields of oil and gas, banking, and tourism.

On this occasion, the two Presidents awarded Friendship Medals of the Vietnamese State and the Russian State to nine staff members and experts working for the joint-venture enterprise Vietsovpetro for their great contributions to strengthening the two countries’ friendship.

President Nguyễn Minh Triết adopted the invitation by his Russian counterpart to pay an official visit to the Russian Federation./.
