Russian President V. Putin to visit Vietnam

VNGOVNet – At the invitation of State President Nguyễn Minh Triết, the President of the Rusian Federation V. Putin will pay an official visit to Vietnam on November 20, 2006 after attending the 14th APEC Leaders’ Meeting in Hanoi.

November 14, 2006 7:54 AM GMT+7

This will have been the second visit to Vietnam by the Russian leader over the last five years.

President Putin’s visit comes in the context that Vietnam is well on course of realizing its foreign policy of diversified and multilateral relations in line with the Resolution of the 10th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, actively involving itself in regional and international integration, organizing the 14th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and welcoming some of the APEC leaders on their separate official visits to Vietnam.

The Vietnam-Russia relation has been strengthening and expanding on the basis of strategic partnership, sustainable and long-term cooperation, equality and mutual benefit, as established by the two sides during the first visit to Vietnam by the Russian President in 2001
