Russian PM to visit VN
VGP – Russian PM Dmitri Medvedev will pay an official visit to Viet Nam from April 5-7 at the invitation of PM Nguyen Tan Dung, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.
The two countries set up diplomatic ties in 1950 and upgraded the bilateral ties to comprehesive strategic partership in 2001.
During Party Genera l Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to Russia last year, both sides agreed to raise two-way trade volume to US$7 billion by 2015 and US$10 billion by 2020. Russia pledged to speed up Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations between Viet Nam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Both sides concurred to speed up negotiations for a cooperative agreement on expanding and modernizing the Dung Quay Oil Refinery. In the area of nuclear power, Russia said it will cooperate closely with Vietnam in the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant construction project by helping the country build a legal framework for project implementation and training Vietnamese managers, engineers, and experts.
