VGP - The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Gyeonggi provincial government of the Republic of Korea on April have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on establishing friendly relations and cooperation between the two sides.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem appreciated Gyeonggi’s initiative in establishing and strengthening cooperation with HCM City, hoping that the two localities will focus on boosting links in the fields of their strengths.

Gyeonggi is considering selecting two schools in HCM City for installation of smart classes, Liem said, adding that this matches the city's smart city-building orientation.

For his part, Kim Jin-heung said the cooperation will significantly contribute to the development of the two localities and the two countries in general as both Gyeonggi and HCM City are key drivers of the respective countries’ economy.

For the smart class project, Kim stressed the model has proven effective in the RoK, affirming that his country is willing to cooperate with HCM City to expand the model in the coming time.
