The host leader expressed his pleasure to meet the Vietnamese top legislator following his official visit to Viet Nam in March, 2018.

He took the occasion to congratulate the Vietnamese National Assembly on electing Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as State President.

The host leader welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on an action plan for attaining US$ 100 billion in bilateral trade by 2020 towards trade balance; proposing the Vietnamese top legislator and the National Assembly to support Korean enterprises to do long-term business in Viet Nam and contribute to national economic development.

President Moon Jae-in said the Viet Nam and the RoK share a large number of similarities in history and culture. He also praised the Vietnamese community in the RoK for their great contribution to local development.

He stressed that the RoK is pursuing the ‘new southern policy’ which aims to cement and deepen ties with ASEAN of which Viet Nam is one of the most important partners. In return, Chairwoman Ngan affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly hopes to consolidate and build mutual trust and contribute to cementing and deepening the Viet Nam-RoK strategic partnership.
