Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Viet Nam Park Noh Wan

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Viet Nam Park Noh Wan made that statement in response to the Viet Nam Government Portal's question about the significance of Kang's official visit to Viet Nam from September 17-18 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

The RoK side is delighted to see the upcoming visit to Viet Nam by Minister Kang Kyung Wha and welcomes the invitation of the Vietnamese side, asserted Ambassador Park Noh Wan.

Regarding the agenda of the visit, Ambassador Park said that Minister Kang is scheduled to pay courtesy call on Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on September 17 and hold talks with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on September 18.

At the talks, the RoK will specifically tough upon such issues like cooperation in the COVID-19 pandemic fight and orientations to advance Viet Nam-RoK strategic cooperative partnership.

The Korean side will talk about the RoK’s cooperation with ASEAN and Mekong countries as well as regional and international political situation.

Viet Nam and the RoK established diplomatic ties in 1992 and upgraded the bilateral ties to strategic cooperative partnership in 2009.

According to the General Statistics Office, the two-way trade value hit US$41.3 billion over the first eight months of 2020. The Northeast Asian country is among the five biggest trade partners of Viet Nam.

Among 70 nations and territories investing in Viet Nam in the first eight months, the RoK ranked second with more than US$1 billion, accounting for 10.7% of the total foreign investment inflows to Viet Nam./.
